Brand new for 2017, Brian’s Custom Sports takes goalie equipment to the next level with the release of the Optik line. Taking pieces from their ever popular Subzero and Gnetik lines of gear, the Optik gear reaches a new level of creativity and brings the goaltender the ultimate line of gear.

First looking at the glove, this glove seems massive when compared to the SubZero3 predecessor but the glove is still within the maximum depth and shape allowed per NHL specifications. The closure of the glove is more with your fingers and fingers tips, but the break aligns with your palm for a snappy closure and game ready feel.

The base of the closure is built around the “Darling Spec” SubZero3 glove but with larger improvements. The Darling Spec was a popular custom design with changes to the thumb and pinky, which actually made it smaller than the maximum NHL allowance. The Optik has capitalized on that size and new design and now has a full 45 inch perimeter which creates a large basket-like pocket and a wide opening. Stock, the Optik will come with a Single T which has a very wide and deep shape which gives the goalie an easy catch along with tremendous visibility into the pocket. Custom, you can choose from a Single T, Double T or Anchor T.

Another added benefit of the shape of the glove, is the shape along the bottom perimeter which will help seal the body on in tight shots. The curve and shape is specific to lock in with the goaltenders pants to make sure no puck will slip through.

Moving onto the back of the glove, you will notice a flared wrist opening with strategic airknit placement to keep the weight down on the glove. Along with a padded fingertip and reinforcement, you now have the confidence in covering the puck as that extra padding helps against slashes and whacks.
